Lupin III chronicles the adventures of Arsene Lupin III, the world's greatest thief, and his partners in crime: master marksman Daisuke Jigen, beautiful and scheming Fujiko Mine and stoic samurai Goemon Ishikawa XIII
Lupin and his gang travel around the globe in search of the world's greatest treasures and riches and always keeping one step ahead of the tireless Inspector Zenigata, who has vowed to bring Lupin to justice
Lupin III TV has three series, the first series has 23 episodes which was aired from 24 October 1971 to 26 March 1972
The second series has 155 episodes which was aired from 3 October 1977 to 6 October 1980. And the third series has 50 episodes which was aired from 3 March 1984 to 28 September 1985
This telling of Lupin is perhaps the silliest and most cartooniest version ever produced. Generally regarded as the most popular of the three series (the first being a 23 episode d but (1971)
and the third being the forgotten 50 episode misfortune (1984)), Lupin brings to us to slew of adventures and crises often involving his part-time girlfriend/part-time backstabber Fujiko, and of course, the eternal righteous pursuer, Inspector Zenigata. Even with sharpshootin' Jigen and master swordsman Goemon by his side, Lupin finds himself neck deep in trouble more than a handful of times in this 155 episode epic

Episodes 145 and 155, got special treatment. These episodes have the additional, English, soundtrack, which was re-ripped and synchronised from my VHS especially for this release. the also have an additional English DubSub subtitle track, which I transcribed from the VHS soundtrack
What was unique about these two episodes was that both were directed by Hayao Miyazaki (who had previously directed the second Lupin III movie The Castle of Cagliostro) under the pseudonym Teruki Tsutomu. The episodes were produced by Studio Telecom, which produced 11 of the 155 episodes of the second Lupin III series, including the two episodes Hayao Miyazaki directed
In the episode Albatross - The Wings of Death, Lupin and the gang have to rescue Fujiko from Lonebach, a weapons dealer who is planning to sell a new type of "suitcase nuke" (in 1977 a truly innovative concept) and is using his huge airplane The Albatross (a Dornier Do X) to transport them
In Farewell, Beloved Lupin a lanky and strong robot is robbing jewellery stores in the Tokyo area, all in the name of Lupin III. The reason behind the thefts is all part of a plan by Maki Oyamada, the robot operator and the Lupin gang to show the world how dangerous the robots can be if they are used in warfare. Meanwhile, Inspector Zenigata feels that something is not right with this case and as this episode shows, not everything is what it seems
The robots used in Aloha, Lupin were also used in Castle in the Sky, an animated feature film directed by Hayao Miyazaki
The robots in Aloha, Lupin were also a great tribute to the first Superman film serial, with some shots nearly identical to those found in "Superman." The robots themselves were very similar in design to the "Superman" robots also
The title Aloha, Lupin stands for two things: not only was this the final episode of the second Lupin III series, but it was also Hayao Miyazaki's farewell to the series, as this episode was the last time the director would ever work on the Lupin III series ever again
Trivia: These two series are loaded with Miyazaki's riffs, which you'll find in his ure works, such as Flying Ghostship (robot and tanks in the streets), Nausicaa (flame scene), Laputa (robot and the face of Lonebach) and Spirited Away (face of Lonebach in Kamaji)
